Transforming the Milton Rooms
The 2021-22 refurbishment programme for The Milton Rooms included investment in modern accessible, assist and disabled toilets, while a newly installed lift gives access from the lobby to both disabled toilet and baby changing room downstairs.
This was all made possible through the vision of a new board of trustees and by Ryedale District Council’s investment of £500k.
Phase One
Phase Two
The second phase covers the overhaul of our theatrical technology and infrastructure, making this a stunning venue.
A sound audit by one of our volunteers while studying music technology at Leeds Beckett University has proved invaluable when considering how to improve the sound issues experienced in a building as old as the MIlton Rooms.
Line Array speakers and curtaining compensate and enhances the quality of sound, while a square lighting truss in the Main Hall allows us to create a flexible and versatile performance space.
Our the new lights are energy saving LED, electronically focused, colour changing and some moving heads which are environmentally friendly.
This new equipment is stunning, state of the art and brings us truly into the 21st century and beyond. Our thanks go to North Star Engineers of Buttercrambe for their persistence in working to overcome the quirky and challenging nature of the building and delivering so generously on our vision.
