Get Involved with Your Milton Rooms

Volunteers are the lifeblood of what we do.

Broadly speaking, there are five main areas of focus:

  • Office administration and ticket sales
  • Event management (Front of House/bar)
  • Tech support (Sound and light)
  • Marketing and Promotion (eg newsletter/design, print and distribution/website and social media content)
  • Venue (Maintenance/DIY)

If you can spare an hour or more a week to help us, please contact us.

Why Volunteer?

“I have only been volunteering for a year, although I was a regular visitor to the Milton Rooms for many years. What attracted me was the opportunity to challenge myself as newly retired to learn and operate the lighting technology for shows.

The team of experienced techs have been incredibly helpful and patient, and I’m now able to ‘fly solo’ for the simpler shows allowing their skills and time to be better spent on the incredible shows they create for bigger performances with the amazing tech kit we have.

I thoroughly recommend joining our volunteer team, it’s never too late to learn new skills”.

Bob Watmore – Malton

I’ve been volunteering at the Milton Rooms for 3 years, mostly on the bar. I really wanted to support this great venue and get involved in the community by helping at events and performances.  I’ve gained new hospitality skills, but I also get to meet and chat to a huge range of visitors and have also made new friends in the very friendly volunteer team. It’s been a great experience and I wish I’d done it sooner.

Danielle Hargreaves –

I do maybe 1 or 2 events a month and I stick to Front Of House  as that is where I feel most comfortable.I enjoy feeling part of a team and making a small difference to a brilliant venue in our community.
I would highly recommend volunteering with the Milton Rooms, there is always something that you can contribute.

Dianne Illingworth –

“When we moved to Malton, The Milton Rooms was a great way of finding new friends and filling our time, after retiring. This has included everything from painting, varnishing floors and maintaining the building, to working behind the bar at events and now working with a really good team on the new website, social media and promotion.

“It has helped us integrate into the town, make new friends and really feel a part of our local
community”

Martin Sunley – Norton

“If you enjoy helping and meeting people this could be for you. There are plenty of options for the type of volunteering you can do with the Milton Rooms and with all the fantastic improvements to the facilities, it is really something we can take a pride in being involved. The team at the Milton Rooms are great people to work with, so give it a go. Nothing to lose”

Diane – Swinton

“I volunteer because I enjoy supporting my community and I meet some amazing people”
