Chris & Joanne Powell – Concert and Dance Organists

Chris Powell has firmly established himself as one of the UK’s premier ‘entertainment organists’ as well as a truly international ambassador in the field of electronic and theatre organ music. By the time he was 18, he had successfully auditioned to join the team of organists playing for dancing at the Tower Ballroom Blackpool and began to be recognised for his musical talents leading to a succession of invitations to perform at electronic and pipe organ venues.

Joanne was christened the “Queen of the Hammond” by Ian Wolstenholme after being featured on his radio show. Equally at home on either pipe or electronic instruments, a recent question was answered when she checked and found there was a total of 18 pipe organs throughout the country she had played, including the Wurlitzer in the Tower Ballroom, Blackpool.

She has been a full time professional organist for over 25 years now and although is a specialist in playing for sequence dancing.
